    Hello everyone!
Is there a pilgrim office in Porto? I know the camino is near near the cathedral, but is there a place to check in and obtain the scallop shell and meet some pilgrims? I'll be walking the coastal Camino from Porto to Santiago next month! Any advice or updates will be greatly appreciated! Peace to all ! Ali

Hi Susan- very personal choice, and if you look on the forum...there are hundreds of ideas. Myself, I like gortex boots.
Feet are a major topic of conversation on the Camino!
      Welcome, and enjoy your visit.

Hi, my husband (Malc) and I have planned to do the Camino Frances in 6 weeks time but ive just torn my achillies so it will just be malc now
    1. Crepes4Suzette
I'm so sorry, Liza. That must be disappointing, especially after training. So many have trouble right before or soon after getting to the gate. I had one of those thwarted Caminos too. I hope you can both get back out on a Camino together soon.

Hi Mike, I HAVE been doing hill training. My knees remind me every day! Ha! You know, doubts trickle in when you read some of the posts about that first day. But actually I am really excited and challenged thinking about it. What day are you leaving SJPP? I will be leaving April 27th, heard it will be an absolutely beautiful, cool, sunny day(ha....seriously, I will embrace whatever is offered to me!)

Hi! Sorry for the delay in replying. I haven’t been on the site in a while, as you can see. I will leave from St. Jean on April 18. After arriving in Santiago, I also hope to do the Camino Portuguese from Porto and go to Finisterre and Muxia. With a 56 day trip, I have lots of options. Buen Camino (It will be fabulous)!

Hi, Hindsfeet. If you are in reasonably good condition, and have done some training on hills, you should not have a problem getting from St. Jean to Roncesvalles on Day 1. I did my first Camino last August/September and stayed at Orisson. When I return in mid-April, I’m going to also go all the way to Roncesvalles on my first day.

On CF you can spent only few Euros daily - it depends of your choice. If you want to cook sometimes, or eat only bread with something... it can be close to 10€daily, including albergues. Of course, you can spent much more - pilgrims menu is 10 - 12€ twice daily plus breakfast...
