    Occupation:
Not currently working. Computer programmer (1985-
    47 year-old widowed mother of 3 (aged 29, 24 and 22) and Grandma to 3 (born 2003, 2005 and 2012), with another grandchild due Christmas Day 2013
I lost my husband to cancer in Nov 2008
In a relationship (since Nov 2011)

Not working - partly by choice. Working conditions were causing me some health problems that were impacting my home and family life, so I resigned in Nov 2011. Started another job September 2012, but management style (or lack of) was leaving me stressed, so I left there in March 2013. Now living off savings and a small widow's pension.

Never been into exercise, but always been overweight - guess those 2 go hand-in-hand LOL

Took up running in May 2010, and discovered I actually enjoyed it.

Running has been on a back-burner since Feb 2012 due to health problems. GP (Doctor) ruled out exercise induced asthma and heart problems, then insisted it 'must be' my lungs despite their capacity being that of someone half my age! (Apparently capacity and function are two totally different things). So I had to give up smoking in October 2012 whether I wanted to or not - luckily I did, as what I would have spent of cigarettes over the next 2 years will hopefully cover the cost of my Camino (which I plan to start in Sept 2014).

However I personally thought the problem was food allergies, and my GP agreed some months ago that I 'show all the classic symptoms' - btu wouldn't initially send me for testing. An elimination diet (self organised) indicates the main culprit is dairy foods, so I've had to switch to soya/non-dairy versions of milk, yoghurt, cream, ice-cream and mayo. Can't stand soya cheese, but the lacto-free cream cheese seems OK (the hard cheese is too mild for me). After 12 months she finally agreed to test me for dairy allergy which came back negative, but the level of some anti-bodies was 'unusual', which lead to her conceding I am almost certainly lactose intolerant.

I've also been threatened with Statins due to a (marginally) high cholesterol level. GP has given me a chance to show I can make the right diet and lifestyle changes before writing me out a prescription for them though. Exercise will help with this, as will giving up the dairy and the cigarettes. I'm also eating a lot less meat (especially red meat) - partly as it's costly (means I can save more money for the Camino ;)) and partly to help reduce my cholesterol.

Running (although not doing much at moment)
Walking - well I'm hoping to get into it LOL Rarely use transport for shopping etc, so do a lot of short local road work at the moment - and have done so for about 8 years.
