Friends walking today from Villambistia are currently in Villafranca Montes de Oca and have reported snow falling all morning.

Wow, I always associate the Camino in my head with heat... Because I have only walked in summer.

I lived in Dublin for 16 years and missed the snow, there was some, but very little compared to Scotland.

Now here I am in Prague, and I thought before moving here I would enjoy the snow again. But the snow is rare in the city...

Snow was forecast for today Leslie so no surprise!

This is a new forum and thread so I will be updating their Camino for them whenever they get wifi and can let me know of their progress.

Today is Day 14 for them from SJPP. They have had a mix of weather with mild sunny days, cold misty days and now snow. When they left Logrono a few days ago it was minus 3 degrees!!

funny you mention snow Louis, so that's the Napoleon route then for us, after checking myself the conditions are good for the day very early in the morning.....we can make snow men and have tea in the hut.....making snow holes in snow is fun and down the last bit you can slide down if you have plastic bag. large heavy gauge type...will be my 11th camino since 2012....imagine blizzard conditions, white out..heaven on earth does exist, happy days .......

My three friends are now at the Municipal Albergue in Ages and have been walking all day from Villambistia in snow.

They stopped at Atapuerca for a cold beer as you can see:

I got a bit confused yesterday as my friends were supposed to be staying in Ages but went on to Atapuerca.

Today they have set off for Burgos in the snow and sunshine.

where's the snow gone...I have done that before, gone to atapuerca..then gone back to AGES.. I noticed yesterday when you posted . so I thought they was doing the same and you meant that......maybe snow from AGES to Burgos would make that run more enjoyable..??.Oh I saw some deer running across the path just before you cross the main bridge......and near the open ground by the airport that made that run better, and all the goats after Atapuerca...lots of stones underfoot as you know where the goats are...interesting area and worth investigating never have myself.

Just heard this morning from people I know, who stayed at a albergue in CIRINUELA last night after arriving there through the red mud which your find if it has been rainning a good amount, and one of them is still there.with Chinches-bedbugs and that is at this time of year......bites on backside, wrists and legs were discovered this morning. waiting for there clothes that have been washed last night to dry.apparently the owners keep coming in and out with other people and they think it was them that brought them there....also one wants to go home and mentions that if they leave and go to Santo Domingo DE Clazada then the problems lies in needing to wash all there clothes in case of infection, and technical clothes can not be washed above 30.

DRAMA continues it is also snowing outside now

I've been away for a couple of days but have now caught up with my friends and their progress.

After 19 days from SJPP they have reached Fromista after a tough time walking in snow and freezing temperatures over the past 5 days.

    Hi Devon Mike,
I have just returned from the funeral of a dear friend (a guitar player in my 1970's band). I feel a bit down in the dumps and would ask if you could contact your friends on the Camino to remember him at Cruz de Ferro please. His name is Tommy McDonagh, originally from Sligo, but crossed the border into Mayo in the early 1960's and there met his beloved wife Helen. No kinder man ever walked this stage.
    Sean,
    Dublin

I will do that Sean. Also when I am on the Camino Frances again starting in May I will carry an extra stone to leave at Cruz de Ferro for Tommy.

Highlander and louis are also heading off soon, so maybe they can pay their respects too.

I've just got an update from my friends. On Day 20 they have now reached Carrion de los Condes. It has been a difficult day with significant foot problems getting worse. One of them has bought new footwear today, but the big issue is with one of the other two. Her foot problems are now serious enough to need medical treatment, so tomorrow the group is splitting up with two walking on and the third visiting the medical centre then making a decision on whether to stay a second night in Carrion or to walk the flat 11 miles to Calzadilla de la Cueza.

It looks like they are going to remain split up for the rest of the Camino.

as Devon mike states we are heading of March 20th ,I don't mind taking a stone from London if that is what you would like.. I have made a note of his name and can do this if you wish.

    Hi Devon Mike and Highlander,
Thank you both for your kindness. I would appreciate it so much. Tommy, I am sure would appreciate it. He was deaf as a beetle but boy, when he turned his Fender Strat up to 10 he made sure everyone went home with their ears ringing.
    Thank you both again.
    Sean,
    Dublin

I have small stones on my boat, I go and have a look at them now and select a nice one....I was thinking last night to see if I can ask a friend who is a artist-painter : hippy-musician type to paint the name Tommy McDonagh Sligo from Sean....when he wakes up from his winter hibernation

I was not taking a stone this time myself....so that is good for me to do this.

    Thanks

Day 22 and my 3 friends are all in Sahagun. Having split up at Carrion de los Condes they all seem to have arrived in the same place.

On the long flat section from Carrion de los Condes there is no snow....
