For architecture enthusiasts, you have several real treats ahead of you when walking the Camino Francés. From medieval bridges, the best being the Puente la Reina, to great cathedrals, Burgos, Leon, and Santiago, there are architectural wonders that will highlight your walk. Of special excitement to me was getting to see a couple of Antoni Gaudi's fairytale-like buildings along the Way. Many are familiar with his Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, but two other wonderful building greet the pilgrim as she walks across northern Spain. In Leon, one finds his Casa Botines and then in Astorga is his Episcopal Palace. Since they're both centrally located in the heart of each city, they're easy to visit even after a day of walking. Buen Camino!

Wily, the palace was exquisite. It showed how beautifully Gaudi appreciated light and wanted to change the structures to reflect that. This one was small and not so overwhelming. I loved it!
