The BBC reported yesterday that Spanish police have found the body of Denise Pikka Thiem who disappeared on the Camino Francés in July.
The confirmation of her death is very sad news indeed and my thoughts go to her family and friends who have had a terrible period of uncertainty and anguish. I hope that this tragic discovery will enable them to achieve closure.
Denise has completed her camino. May she rest in peace.

Never nice to hear of a death... may the angels from heaven raise her soul to the heavens above and our lord Jesus guide her spirit to eternal life...Buen Camino

May the road rise up to meet her
May the wind be always at her back
May the sun shine warm upon her face
May the rain fall soft upon her field
May God hold her safely in the hollow of his hand.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her brother Cedric Thiem and family. A memorial service was held at Santiago Cathedral today for Denise. This news was very sad to hear.
it will not stop me walking on the Camino alone though and I hope it won't put off any one else who has yet to go on their first Camino!
